Everett was a road grader operator by trade. Although, he also worked at both farming and ranching. He was a marksman with a rifle. He learn his rifle skills at an early age. He helped his dad hunt wild game for the table when growing up and after he was married. He was a quiet humble man that at times was hard to figure. Growing up his siblings all knew they could depend on him for whatever was needed. Everett married twice. After his first wife Lula Jane MacCallown, nee: Smith died, he married Gertrude (Billy) Roberts. Lula had a daughter Mary Francis Smith that Everett raised as his own. Everett and Billy had two sons Robert and Richard Smith. Everett died in Phoenix, Arizona, but he is buried in Auburn, California near his parents.
