The Thomsens had a very happy home life. But suddenly on June 6, 1904, Mrs. Thomsen was stricken with a brain hemorrhage, and died almost instantly.

Mrs. Eiler Thompsen, aged about 50 years, died Monday morning at her home in this township. Her death came suddenly, without warning, and was a great shock to the community in which she had long been an honored member. The funeral services were held this morning at 10 o'clock at the Danish church, the interment taking place in the Danish cemetery. Rev. Knudsen, of Tyler, conducted the services. The attendance was very large, testifying to the high esteem in which deceased was held by all who knew her during her long life of usefulness. Mrs. Thomsen was a fine, Christian woman, belonging to that class whose chief aim and thought are centered in the home. By her gentle, kindly, generous life and devotion to her home and family she won the right to that sweetest, noblest grandest of earth's titles: A good Mother. A heart-broken husband and seven children are left to mourn her loss. This community, in which deceased spent the last eighteen years of her life, is bowed in sorrow over the loss of one of its most loved members, and the grief stricken relatives have the sincere sympathy of everyone in their sorrow.
