Gladys (Ludwick) Porter 5 Dec 1912-10 Dec 2001 Spokane
"Funeral service for Gladys May (Ludwick) Porter, 89, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home. Mrs. Porter, a lifelong Spokane resident, died Monday.
She graduated in 1931 from Lewis and Clark High School, and in 1933 married Clarence Porter.
Mrs. Porter was the story lady on KREM from the 1940s [radio] until the early 1960's [TV]. In the 1970s she taught storytelling at Eastern Washington University and kindergarten at Stevens Elementary.
She was a volunteer with the Sacred Heart Chaplaincy Program from 1996 until recently.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence. Survivors include a son, John Porter of Spokane; a brother, Kenneth Silver, and a sister, Ruth Schauer, both of Spokane; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Chaplaincy program."

"Gladys May (Ludwick) (Silver) Porter, age 89, entered into rest on Monday, December 10, 2001.
Mrs. Porter was born in Spokane on December 5, 1912, to John and Constance Ludwick and has lived here most all of her life. Gladys graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1931 and was married in Spokane on October 14, 1933.
She was an Elder of the Community of Christ, was a life-long member and former president of the Spokane Story League, and was the Story Lady on radio and KREM-TV from the 1940s to the early 1960s.
In the 1970s, Gladys taught storytelling at EWU and kindergarten at Stevens Elementary. Gladys was also a volunteer and employee of the Sacred Heart Hospital Chaplaincy Department from 1996 until recently.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Porter and brother, Charles W. Silver.
Gladys is survived by a son, John L. Porter and wife, Patricia of Spokane; two grandchildren, Debra A. Porter and husband, Shane Ferris of Australia, and Mark L. Porter and wife, Kelly of Spokane; two great grandchildren, Brianna and Shannon Porter of Spokane; a brother Kenneth L. Silver and wife, Lucille of Spokane; and sister, Ruth Silver Schaefer of Spokane.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2001, at 10:30AM. at Heritage Chapel, Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA.
