John Wesley Bosler was born in Seneca county, Ohio July 14, 1842, and died December 1, 1917 at the home of his son Elmer Bosler in Cherokee. He was a volunteer soldier in the Civil War and was given an honorable discharge on the account of being wounded, the effect of which he carried till the time of his death.
He was united in marriage to Amanda E. Hickman in 1868 and she departed from this life in 1873. To this union two children were born, both of whom are still living: William Bosler of Portland, Oregon and David Bosler of Buffalo, Mo. Mr. Bosler was again united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Newsbaum, Dec. 12, 1876. To this union four children were born, one son and three daughters, two of these dying in infancy.
This leaves to mourn his death a wife and two children, Mrs. J.C. Bennett of Miami, Texas, and E.E. Bosler of this city, also a number of grandchildren, an only brother, Elmer E. Bosler of Grand Lodge, Michigan, he being the youngest and only one left of the Bosler family.
He also leaves a host of friends.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and G.A.R. Mr. Bosler was converted in Ohio in his boyhood days and in later years united with the M.E. church of this city and has since that time lived a consistent Christian life, also a true soldier for his country.
Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church Tuesday at 11 a.m. by Rev. Wiles and the I.O.O.F. Interment took place at Cherokee cemetery.
