Peter Lund Dies, Rites Wednesday
Mr. Peter Lund, well known resident of Lincoln county and this community for the past 29 years, passed away at his home in this city shortly before noon on Monday, July 22nd. Mr. Lund has not been in good health for several years and had failed considerably the past week.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the home at 1:30 o'clock and from the Danish Lutheran church in Diamond Lake at 2:30 o'clock. The Reverand H Ibsen conducted the last rites. Interment was made in the adjacent Diamond Lake cemetery.
Peter R. Lund was born in Silvig, Denmark, January 27th. 1862. He had attained the age of 78 years 5 months and 25 days at his death July 22, 1940. At the age of twenty-two years, Mr. Lund came to the United States, locating in Iowa where he found employment near Cedar Falls.
On February 26th, 1886 he was united in marriage to Johanna Marie Lund. Mr. and Mrs Lund made their home on a farm near Cedar Falls until 1911 when they moved to Lincoln county, engaging in farming a few miles north of Lake Benton. In 1926 they retired and moved to Lake Benton where they have since resided.
Mr. Lund in survived by his three children, John of Tyler, Sam; and Mrs. Sofus Black of Lake Benton, thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one brother, Leonard of Newell, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Heier of Ringsted, Iowa. One son, Hans, and a brother, Iver, preceded him in death.
Among the out of town friends and relatives who atttended the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Hoier and Mrs. Lawrence Nelson of Ringsted, Iowa; Mr. L.P. Lund of Newell, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. John Lund of Tyler.
