Leabel J. Heilbron
Mrs. Leabel J. Heilbron, age 82, of Newark, DE, died on Saturday, October 11, 2008.
Mrs. Heilbron was born in Hilliards, PA on December 19, 1925, daughter of the late George O. Stewart, Sr. and Corlena Kane Stewart. A gifted homemaker throughout her life, she was an excellent hostess and cook who delighted in caring for her beloved family. Mrs. Heilbron was a longtime member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the New Century Club. She travelled extensively with her husband over the years and enjoyed vacations at their summer home in Chincoteague, VA. She especially looked forward to flounder fishing trips in both Chincoteague and Ocean City, MD.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, William S. Heilbron; daughter, Deborah A. Carey and husband, John, of Elkton, MD; granddaughter, Jennifer Clemente and husband, Floyd, of New Castle, DE; great grandson, Hunter Stewart Clemente; 2 nieces and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, George O. Stewart, Jr., and 4 sisters, Beverly Williams, Phyllis Ann DeFoggi, Betty Stewart, and Virginia Stewart; and a nephew, John Calvin Williams, Jr.
Friends may call 6-8 pm, on Thursday, October 16, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am, on Friday, October 17, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 276 S. College Avenue at Park Place, Newark, DE. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
