Concord, - W. D. Foil, 71, a civic leader in Mt. Pleasant for many years, died at his home Friday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock from a heart malady with which he had suffered for a year. Funeral services will be held at St. James Reformed Church in Mt. Pleasant Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. S. Gerhard. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. The body will lie in state in the church from 1:30 to 2:30.
Mr. Foil was born at Mt. Pleasant November 18, 1867, and had been identified with all phases of public life there for more than half a century. He served as county commissioner a number of years ago and had varied business interests when he retired about 15 years ago. He was one of the most active members of St. James Church, and served as elder for many years.
Mr. Foil twice was married. His first wife, the former Miss Martha Fisher, died in 1931. He second wife, the former Miss Nora Klutts, who he married May 31, 1933, and the following children survive: Mrs. George Faggart of Savannah, Ga.; Mrs. A. R. Tosh of Philadelphia, Paul B., and Horace E. Foil and Mrs. Willis Hahn of Mt. Pleasant.
