He left his wife, Doris M. (Sweet) Morgan; four sons, David J., John P., and Paul J. Morgan Jr., all of Worcester, and Robert M. Morgan of Brewster; a daughter, Kerry S. Morgan of Framingham; three brothers, his twin, Robert J. Morgan of Worcester, John Morgan of Reading, Pa., and George Morgan. He also left seven grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, a son of John W. Morgan Sr. and Josephine C. (Pickett) Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan observed their 43rd wedding anniversary in September.
Mr. Morgan worked for the city of Worcester for 23 years, retiring in 1985 as deputy sealer of weights and measures. He graduated from South High School in 1942. Mr. Morgan was a World War II Marine veteran. He saw action in the South Pacific and participated in the Battle of Guadalcanal. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Christopher's Church, Disabled Veterans, and the First Marine Division Association.
The funeral was held from Nordgren, Carrigan, Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston St. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Department of The Medical Center of Central Massachusetts - Memorial, 119 Belmont St.
