Earl Laverne Adair, 87, of Burlington, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at Burlington Care Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1916, in Biggsville, Ill., he was the son of Earl Henry and Anna Perdue Adair. On March 14, 1936, he married Virginia Doris Anderson in Palmyra, Mo.

Mr. Adair was a retired mail sorter for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of BPOE 84 Elks, Eagles Lodge and Postal Workers Union.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Laverne Adair of Nashville, Tenn., and Richard Earl Adair of Urbandale; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
