OXFORD -- HILMAN Cannady HICKS, 82, of 211 Hillcrest Dr., died Wednesday, October 14, 1998 at his home. Mr. HICKS was a native of Oxford, son of the late Albert Richard and Nora Brummitt HICKS, an alumni of NC State University, an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, graduating from Glider School SPAAF, Lubbock, Texas on 12/15/1942, and served with the 436 GP Group 80th Sqd., in Normandy, Southern France, Northern France, Holland and Germany.

He was a retired government grader, a member of Corinth Baptist Church, a member of Oxford Lodge #122 A.F. & A.M.,a member of the Oxford York Rite Bodies, Sudan Temple of Shrine and a member of The Granville Co. Shrine Club.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday from Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Mike Patterson. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Oxford Lodge #122.

Surviving are two daughters, Hilda H. Jones of Apex, Joyce H. Cochran of St. Augustine, FL.; two sons, Ronald J. HICKS of Roxboro and HILMAN C. HICKS, Jr. of Oxford; his brother, A.R. HICKS of Oxford; his sisters, Mrs. Caroline Averette and Mrs. Mildred Harris both of Oxford; nine grandchildren.
