"Mrs. Mary Gertrude Diehl, 91, formerly of Canfield, died of infirmities Friday morning in the South Side hospital. She had recently been a patient in Cohasset Nursing Home, Youngstown. Born in Milton township, Sept. 20, 1875, she was a daughter of John and Hannah Weisner Van Winkle, and was a life resident of the area. She was a member of the Canfield United Presbyterian church. Her husband, Perry Diehl, to whom she was married in 1904, died in 1946. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Bernice Esterly of Salem, and Mrs. Ross Roof and Mrs. Marcus Turney, both of North Jackson; a son, Hubert Diehl of Canfield; a brother, Robert Van Winkle of Lakeland, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Charles F. Fulcomer, were held Monday afternoon at the Williams Funeral Home, and burial made in the Eckis cemetery."
