Samuel Chase Barrow, Sr., son of Tyre Barrow and Rebecca Steele Barrow, was born on July 4, 1830, in Jackson County, Illinois. He married Nancy C. Bardmass (January 28, 1835-July 17, 1903) on September 23, 1852, in Bradley Township, Jackson County, Illinois. She was born in Illinois, likely either in Jackson or Perry County, to James Bardmass and Maria Haggard. She died in Henry County, Missouri. Samuel Chase Barrow and Nancy C. Bardmass had the following children:

1) Sarah E. Barrow, born 1857, in Jackson County, Illinois. Nothing is known of her after the 1870 census. She could have died young, but most likely she married a few years after the 1870 census and had a married name that is unknown to us.

2) Mahala Barrow, born 1859, in Jackson County, Illinois. She died March 2, 1931, at Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri (NOTE: She never married, and her brother, Samuel Chase Barrow, Jr., had been appointed her legal guardian and conservator on 8-22-1905 in the Probate Court of Benton County, Missouri. So likley she was developmentally impaired or disabled in some fashion, and perhaps it was a mental impairment, since her physical health was good enough that she lived to be 72.)

3) Selva Logan Barrow (a male), born December 12, 1860, in Jackson County, Illinois. He married in 1881, and died January 1, 1941, at Leeton, Johnson County, Missouri
Selva married Almeda Josephine Warren (born October 7, 1863, in Pettis County, Missouri, and died May 13, 1944, at Green Ridge, Pettis County, Missouri) Almeda's parents were William and Melinda Tribble Warren, and she was a distant relative of Elizabeth E. Warren Keele, born May 11, 1831, and who married Levi Keele, born January 5, 1833. They were the parents of Samuel Balious Keele, who married Rebecca Mariah Barrow. [See below.]

4) Logan Barrow, born 1861, in Jackson County, Illinois. Death date is unknown.

5) Noel W. Barrow, born 1863, in Jackson County, Illinois. Death date is unknown. (Note that his wife was widowed by the time of the 1900 census, and that his daughter was born in early 1898. So, his date of death would have been between mid-year of 1897 and June 18, 1900.) Noel married Ruth Poindexter (September, 1863-death date unknown) in Missouri to parents who were born in Virginia. She was living near Dresden in Pettis County, Missouri at the time of the 1900 census.

6) Samuel Chase Barrow, Jr., born 1864, in Jackson County, Illinois; married in 1888, likely near Cole Camp in Benton County, Missouri where his parents lived, and where he and his wife lived after their marriage. Died December 16, 1944, at Clinton, Henry County, Missouri; buried at Laurel Oak Cemetery at Windsor, Henry County, Missouri
Married Emma Alice Keele (born February 7, 1870, in Pettis County, Missouri, died December 25, 1914, at Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri; buried at Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, Henry County, Missouri. Emma Alice Keele was a daughter of Levi and Elizabeth Keele and a sister of Samuel Balious Keele, who married a sister of Samuel Chase Barrow, Jr. (see the next entry)

7) Rebecca Mariah Barrow, born January 18, 1867, in Jackson County, Illinois; died December 25, 1927, in Pettis County, Missouri; buried at Green Ridge Cemetery at Green Ridge, Pettis County, Missouri. Rebecca married Samuel Balious Keele (born February 28, 1856, in Grundy County, Tennessee) on December 29, 1886, in Benton County, Missouri. He died on July 11, 1925, in Pettis County, Missouri, and was buried at Green Ridge Cemetery, Green Ridge, Pettis County, Missouri.

Samuel Chase Barrow, Sr., died January 17, 1892, in Henry County, Missouri.
