Frank V. Grungo, Sr., age 90 of Tabernacle, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at Virtua Memorial Hospital, Mount Holly.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Frank resided in Tabernacle since 1938. He was the former Mayor and Chief of Police in Tabernacle and served on the Town Council for over thirty years. He
initiated the Tabernacle Emergency Squad and was a charter member of the Tabernacle Historical Society. Frank was a member of the Burlington County Board of Agriculture, the NJ Civil
Defense Corps, and was a founding member of the
Loyal Order of Moose in Lindenwold.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Beatrice (nee Antonelli) Grungo; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Frank Grungo, Jr. of Marlton, Salvatore Grungo of Mount Laurel, Richard and Dolores Grungo of Lumberton, and Christopher Grungo of Mount Laurel; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 9 to 11 AM at the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Medford Lakes Rd., Tabernacle, (609) 268-8383. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frank's memory to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Arrangements by MATHIS FUNERAL HOME, Medford.
