Edward was born in England. Married Catherine O'Neil of Ireland. They had 14 children. Eight of whom are Charles, Mary Jane, James, Susan, John, Lisa, Catherine and William. He later married Mariah Loveland of Granby, NY and had 14 children. Eight of whom are Frank, Reuben, Harrettes, Loretta, Robert Irving, George Edward, Elija E. and Frederick. He was the 20th of 21 children. He was in the 7th Black Horse Cavalry of England and served in the China Tea War. In the Civil War, he was in Co. H 98th NY Infantry from 11-05-1861 to 10-3-1862 and also served in Co. E 11th Vermont Volunteers from 12-10-1863 to 04-13-1864. He was in the Battle of Gettysburg, and was present at Lee's Surrender.
