Professional Football Player. He played at the defensive back (cornerback) position for seven seasons (1978 to 1984) in the National Football League with the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons. He was a member of the Dolphins team that reached Super Bowl XVII in 1983. A standout player during his collegiate years at San Jose State University, Small was chosen by the Dolphins in the 4th round of the 1978 NFL Draft. He appeared in 104 regular season games, with 24 career interceptions for 380 yards and 1 touchdown.
