Son of John Hopwood Bleazard and Sarah Searcy
History - John Searcy Blazzard was born in Indian Territory in what is now Nebraska on 24 October, 1847.179
When John was twelve or thirteen months old he pulled himself up on a stool by a table. His father came in and asked the toddler to get off of the stool. When little John did not comply, his father kicked the stool throwing the child into the air high enough to hit his head on the ceiling. The child then landed on his head breaking his neck. For a while they thought he would die. When the child came out of it "he didn't know anything, just seemed for three or four months he didn't know a thing--looked up like he was catching at something, and he never got any mind afterward". John was never able to live independently and care for himself.180
He lived with his mother until her death in 1889. After that he lived under the care of his brother, Thomas Blazzard. John died 15 February 1922 from the effects of a broken leg caused by the attack of a vicious sheep.181
John is buried in the Washington City Cemetery.
