Born January 12, 1906, McDowell County, N.C., Arnold Pyatt was the son of Joseph Grayson Pyatt and Lillian Gardin Pyatt.
Arnold Pyatt married Genoese Helen Flack on June 14, 1931, in McDowell County, N.C.
They had a son and a daughter.
Arnold Pyatt worked as an Oil Distributor, (Citgo) Pyatt Oil Company.
Mrs. Pyatt was an elementary school teacher (4th grade) at Glenwood High and Ele. for many years located at Glenwood, McDowell County, N.C. I was a student of Mrs. Pyatt.
As of this date, Sept. 17, 2009, no records can be found as of her death, so I am assuming she is still alive. If so, she would be around 101 years old.
On March 5, 1968, Asheville, Buncombe County, N.C., Arnold Pyatt died at the age of 60. He had fallen from an Oil Tanker Truck and received a skull fracture with then living just a few hours afterwards.

Marion, N.C.- Fuquay-Varina, N.C. – Genoese Flack Pyatt, 101, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Marion, N.C. on Tuesday, April 13, at 2 p.m.
A daughter of Miles P. Flack and Hettie Upton Flack of Vein Mountain, Mrs. Pyatt was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Pyatt; a son, Arnold F. Pyatt; sisters, Kent Greenwood and Billie Burgess; and a brother, Max Flack.
Surviving are her daughter, Margaret and son-in-law, Mickey Smith; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Evans Pyatt; and sister-in-law, Peggy Flack; five grandchildren also survive, Jeff Pyatt, Russell Smith, Greg Pyatt, Mark Smith and Carter Stanley. She had seven great-grandchildren.
During the past year, she had a devoted and caring friend in Mary Dunnigan.
Mrs. Pyatt taught school in McDowell County for many years. She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1961, after working toward her degree for many years.
She lived in Marion and moved to Fuquay-Varina in 1977, where she lived with her daughter and family for 33 years.
Mrs. Pyatt loved working crossword puzzles and solving jumble words. She was a skilled craft person and made quilts and embroidered shirts. She crocheted beautiful lace. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Marion where she taught a four-year-old Sunday School class for over 30 years.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 10 immediately following the memorial service at Thomas Funeral Home.
