Fred Strode, 79, Dies At Home Monday

Fred Strode, 79, a lifetime resident of the Cherokee community, died at his home at 7:50 o'clock Monday night. He had been in poor health for many years and bedfast the past year. We remember he was in Mt. Carmel hospital when Ethel died ten years ago, and she wanted to get up and visit him.

Mr. Strode was born July 31, 1877, on a farm west of Cherokee, and lived in the vicinity until retiring from the farm and moving to Cherokee nine years ago. he had recently returned home from the Mt. Carmel hospital in Pittsburg.

A member of the Cherokee Methodist church. Mr. Strode was married to Leona McClure on September 22, 1904. The widow survives.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Cherokee Methodist church. Rev. Harvey Houchin officiated. Robert Burns of Girard was the soloist. Interment was in Cherokee cemetery in charge of the Brenner Mortuary.
Pallbearers were Bob Snow, Bill Snow, Bobby Snow, Verne Stocker, Johnnie Stocker and Wylie Bronson.
