Obituary: Rutland Daily Herald, Monday morning August 1, 1892:

Death in Rutland of Harvey Kingsley: Rutland lost one of its oldest substantial citizens in the death Saturday morning of Harvey Kingsley. He had been confined to his house on Cottage Street several months, and the end was not unexpected. The immediate cause of death was a kidney trouble.

Harvey Kingsley was born in Canajoharie NY December 14, 1807. His father moved to Shrewsbury in this county about 1812, and built a carding and cloth dressing mill on Mill river near the mouth of Clarendon gorge. Harvey took charge of this mill when about 18 years old, and conducted it successfully a considerable time. He and his brother, Harrison, bought the East Clarendon mill property about 1840 and conducted a considerable business in that connection. Mr Kingsley came to Rutland in 1867 and had since lived here. He was well known through the County for many years as an active business man of high character and standing. He was once postmaster at East Clarendon and in Rutland was a water commissioner a number of years. He was also a director in the Baxter National Bank. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal church and for years a warden.

Mr Kingsley married in 1831 Elvira, daughter of the late Stephen Gleason of Shrewsbury. He had three children, all of whom are living in this village - Levi G, Nahum P and Mrs A. W. Higgins [Elizabeth]. The funeral will be at the house on Cottage street at 3 o'clock this afternoon. Rev. Mr Niles will officiate.
=======
Harvey's parents were Chester and Rhoda (Weeks) Kingsley. They are buried at Brandon, VT in the Congregational Church Cemetery. His grandparents were Salmon and Alethea (Smith) Kingsley. Alethea is buried at Ira or Poultney, on the Kingsley Homestead (Ames Cemetery, better known as Bird Mountain Cemetery). Salmon is buried in Livonia, Wayne Co, at Newburgh Cemetery.
