James F Wilson was born 5 May 1840 in Columbia, Adair, Kentucky, the youngest of 5 children of Daniel Wilson and Lucinda Barnes Wilson, both from Virginia. James grew up on a farm in Kentucky and after his parents passed away, he decided to move West as many pioneers did in those days. He went to Hanford, California where he met 18 year old Theodosia Cora Woodcock from Arkansas and they were married 8 Nov 1877 in Hanford, King, California, he was 37. Together they would have 7 children, only four would reach adulthood. Rosa Calavan, Walter Burchet, James Clarence, Andrew Burton, Frank Hiram, Dee, and May Samantha Wilson. Their first 5 children were born in Hanford, California. They moved to Myrtle Creek in Coos County about 1895 where James resumed his farming. His last 2 children were born in Myrtle Creek, the last one after his death which was on 26 Oct 1899 in Myrtle Creek, Coos, Oregon.
