Sim Boyd Strickland, 70, of 500 Johnson Street, retired restaurant own and operator, died at the Baptist Hospital at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon after several months illness. Mr. Strickland was born in Horry County a son of the late Mary Martha Skipper and William Henry Strickland. He had made his home in Columbia for a number of years and was a member fo the Eau Claire Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ruby Ayer Strickland; two daugthers Mrs. J. B. (Diana) Herlong of Johnston and Mrs. W. A. (Delores)Blackburn Jr. of Columbia; on son Donnell Lance Strickland of West Columbia; three grandchildren Martha, Harriet Ann, and Joseph Benjamin Herlong Jr.; the following neices and nephews Jack Strickland, Bill Strickland, Bill Strickland and Guy Strickland and Miss Gloria Strickland all of West Columbia, Mrs. Ronald Wesley, Miss Violet Beverly and Mrs. Ruth Rowe all of Marion and Mrs. Floyd Lamb of Birmingham Ala.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the Dunbar Funeral Home by his pastor, Rev. Fredrick C. Debele Jr. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The Family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Blackburn Jr., 4703 Dale Drive, Columbia.
Active pallbearers will be Jack Strickland, Bill Strickland, James Wesley, R. D. Wesley, Bill Wesley, all nephews, and L. F. Elkins.
