Graveside services for Ray Bowers, 95, Kerrville, TX, were held at Valley View Cemetery in Ordway with pastor Mike Beecham of Crossroads Church in Swink officiating. Mr. Bowers died Sept. 3, 2008, in Kerrville, TX.
He was born July 9, 1913, in Highland Township, IA, to Frank and Olive Bowers.
Mr. Bowers is survived by his wife Bessie Bowers of Junction, TX; sons Roger Bowers of Maryland, Jerry(Roberta) Bowers of Ordway, Bob(Sami) Bowers of Colorado Springs and daughter Judi(Don) Wren of Rocky Ford.
In addition, nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive as does a sister Wanda(Bill) Gilligan of Des Moines, IA and a brother Dale(Doris) Bowers of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a grandchild.
A memorial service was held in Junction, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Alzheimer's research or to the Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center in LaJunta.
Griffy Family Funeral Home in Ordway was in charge of arrangements.
