Funeral services for Gina Sommervold were held on Saturday, March 24th at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Russell Anderson officiating. Mrs. Christopherson died March 20th at the Hendricks Nursing Home at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 20 days.
Organist for the funeral services was Mrs. Carvell Johnson. At the family service Walter Johnson sang "Just As I Am Without One Plea" At the funeral service Mrs. Glen Johnson Sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Active pallbearers ere the following: grandsons DuWayne Buseth, Curtis Land, Dale Bergman, Kevin Leuning, Gary Christopherson, and Lee Christopherson. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren.
Interment is in the East Hendricks Cemetery.
Gina Christopherson was born May 30, 1893, to her parents, Henry and Johanna Sommervold in Hendricks. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. On April 20, 1916, she was united in marriage to Martin Christopherson and to this union 12 children were born.
Mrs. Christopherson is survived by 11 of her children: Mrs. Cora Petersen, Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Millard (Marcella) Lang, Cyrus, Minn., Mrs. Harley (Pearl) Bergman, Elkton, S.D., Clifford, Hendricks, Mrs. Viola Kloskin, St .Paul, Minn., Leonard, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Albert (Vada) Buseth, Hendricks, Kenneth, New Prague, Minn., Mrs. Glen (Joyce) Anderson, Elkton, S.D., Mrs. Walter (Helen) Hemmish, Canby, MInn., Mrs. James (Alyce) Leuning, Minneapolis, Minn.; 37 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three sisters' Mrs. Roman Sik, Mrs. Bertha Ueland, and Mrs. Hilma Hexum, all of Hendricks; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, and one some, Harry, who was killed in World War II, three grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
She was a lifelong member of the Calvary Lutheran Congregation and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother.
She had been a resident of the Hendricks Nursing Home for the past five years. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Relatives and friends attending were from Lake Benton, Canby, Minneapolis, St. Paul, New Prague, Isanti, Princeton, Cyrus, and Ivanhoe, Minn., Elkton, Aurora and Brookings, S.D.; Omaha, Nebr., Denver, Colo.; and East Grand Forks, Minn.
