Brandt B Curtis, our beloved father, husband, son, brother, and friend, surrounded by his loving family passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008 after succumbing to complications due to Alzheimer's Disease.

Brandt was born August 24, 1924 in Safford, Arizona to McDonald and June Moody Curtis. He grew up on a dairy farm with 10 brothers and sisters. He loved his country and served honorably in the United States Armed Services from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. He was stationed in the states and in Okinawa, Japan. Brandt was trained in Chemical Warfare Service and was grateful that they didn't have to use it because the war ended. Brandt served an LDS Argentina Mission in 1947 for almost three years. He sang in a popular musical group that helped open many doors to missionary work. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Brigham Young University and a Doctorate of Musical Arts at Indiana University. Brandt married the love of his life, Norma Vance on September 5, 1950 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He was devoted to her all his life.

He was a music teacher at BYU for 37 years and was Opera Workshop Director and directed the University Chorale where he was beloved and adored by many students. He was gifted in helping students learn how to sing. Brandt was known for his own beautiful tenor voice and shared his talent in many opera and musical productions, private and public gatherings, and funerals. His soul delighted in the song of the heart. Brandt had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He and Norma served LDS Missions together in Barcelona Spain, San Jose, California and in the Switzerland Temple mission. In addition to his Church missions, Brandt was an active member of the LDS church all his life and served in many callings including being a member of the Tabernacle Choir and a sealer for the Provo Temple. Dad loved camping with his family, gardening, and enjoyed being a handyman. He was very kind, generous, frugal, and an example of hard work. He was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Norma of 58 years; six children; Paul Vance (Eleanore), Daniel Lyn (Mira), Esther Hawkins (Kent), Sylvia Andrew (Ronald), Evelyn Downing (Dahlen), Nathan Brandt (JulieAnn), 30 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two brothers: Max (Rosalie) and Brooks (Myrna), three sisters: Lorraine Chamberlin, Belva Dean Anglin, Gretta Waldrom.
