Benjamin Thomas, Jr., was a member of Captain William Kimbro's Company of San Augustine Volunteers and was issued a certificate for 640 acres of land for his service in the Texas Revolution. Benjamin was married to Martha Engleow, January 17, 1839. Mrs. Thomas died and Mr. Thomas with his brothers, Jack and Gary, and sister Ann, moved to Hays County. Benjamin later moved to a ranch in Bexar County some fifteen or twenty miles from San Antonio. He was then married to Penelope Jane Wheeler by Rev. William Lounge, a Methodist minister. Mr. Thomas died on his ranch while a member of the Texas Veterans Association.
