Visitation was at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Funeral service was at the church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Emilie M. Daye and Elizabeth M. Bennett; one brother, Herbert Prejeant; three sisters, Vivian LeBouef, Thelma Boudreaux and Euphemie Authement; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Peter Melancon; her parents, Philibert and Julia Sonnier Prejeant; two sons, Kenneth Joseph and Philibert Mark Melancon; one grandson, John Melancon; two brothers, Leon Prejeant and Henry Prejeant; and one sister, Anna Mae Hidalgo.
She was a professional seamstress.
