"LaMar" graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1959 and went to Ricks College for 2 years. While at Ricks College he served as a student swimming instructor. He was an accomplished pianist. He was called on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Australia. LaMar left in June 1961. On May 13th 1962, Mother's Day, the family got word that he and his companion Bryan Johnson of Salt Lake City were killed in a train car accident in Beaufort, Australia. His funeral was May 21st 1962 one year to the day from his missionary farewell. Elder Mark E. Peterson of the Quorum of the Twelve spoke at his funeral and spoke to the family in private to help them. Bruce R. McConkie was his Mission President. Henry D. Moyle of the First Presidency also visited us." His family missed him but knew that he was doing the will of God when he died and that it must have been God's work that called him to the other side of the veil.
