Notes from Freda:
December 05,2000
Today I found Duncan W. Brinkley son of James W. Brinkley, in the 1910 Census records, La Center, Clarke County, Washington. This census records list James as born in Louisiana. Duncan's Death Certificate list James as born in Mississippi. Since Duncan was alive for the Census records I am looking at Louisiana as the birth place of James W. Brinkley.

1860 Rapides Parrish Louisiana page 140
J.W. Brinkley, age 26, Male Occup. Farm Laborer,
Born in Mississippi -Head of House Nancy Ann Brinkley, age 22, Born in Arkansas - Wife William Jasper Brinkley, age 2, Born in Louisiana - son Next Door to J.W. Brinkley is:
*A.L. Brinkley, age 26, Male, Occup. Farm Laborer,
Born in Mississippi -Head of House Elizabeth Ann Brinkley, age 22, Female, North Carolina - Wife Goerge B. Brinkley, age 4, Male, Born in Texas William Brinkley, age 8/12, Male, Born in Texas (sence this list JW born in Mississippi I will go with this as his birth place) 1870 Freestone County, Texas page 104: J.W. Brinkley, age 36, Male, Occup. Farmer, Mississippi - Head of House N.A. Brinkley, age 33, Female, Occup. Keeping House, Born in Arkansas - Wife
N.A. Brinkley, age 8, Female, Louisiana - Daughter
C.A. Brinkley, age 3, Male, Louisiana - Son
* A.L. Brinkley in 1860 Rapides Parish Louisiana who is next to a listing for J.W. Brinkley with a wife of N.A. and son of William Jasper. In a message on
Genforum, an assertion was made by a Evelyn who claimed that it was G.W. Brinkley (not J.W. ) and was a twin to A.L. They both fought in the Civil War etc. Evelyn is no longer at the same e-mail address so I haven't been able to get any clarity on this point. I also think that William Jasper Brinkley died before the next census. I am not sure if A.L. is a twin to J.W. but I do think that G.W. maybe someone else.
