Obituary

Call back not the dear departed,
Anchored safe where storms are o'er
On the border land we left him
Soon to meet, to part no more.

Far beyond this world of changes,
Far beyond this world of care,
We shall find our missing loved one
In our Father's mansion there.

Chester Rolla, youngest child of Oba and Lydia Woods was born Nov. 5, 1918, and departed this life Aug. 21, 1920. Age 1 year, 10 months and 16 days.

He leaves a broken hearted father and mother, five sisters, one brother, grandfather and grandmother Beaver and many relatives and friends who deeply mourn because of his departure. But we fully realize that our loss is his eternal gain for the Master has said, "suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of heaven."

One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Rolla was only sick one week but his suffering was intense. Surely his sun has gone down while it is yet day and we are left to wonder why one so young in years, so full of hope and promise should be taken from us, but some day, when the mists have cleared away we shall understand and be ready to say, "truly the Lord doeth all things well."

He was a very bright and active child and was of such a kind and lovable disposition that he was loved by all who knew him. He was greatly devoted to his parents and brothers and sisters. The form we loved so much to meet is gone, the voice we loved to hear is forever stilled. The light of his presence has gone from his home. No more will he run to meet Daddy as he returns from work, as he always did. The vacant chair and the kind and welcome smile will be sadly missed by his family and friends, but some day this form we so sadly miss today, will be the first to greet us over yonder and there will be a happy reunion of loved ones in the great beyond, where all is joy and gladness and where sorrow or pain never comes. Thruout life mingled with its joys, comes a measure of sadness. The light of our existence hums with uncertainty. One by one our loved ones are drifting from us. One by one they are crossing the silent river and passing into that mysterious realm, whose gateway is called death.

Rolla's little hands now so white cold in death, are beckoning to us who loved him, to come to him in that home beyond the skies.

To the broken hearted father and mother and the sorrowing sisters and brothers we would say "look unto Him who healeth the broken hearted and bindeth up their wounds." And may we be able to say as the seer of old, the Lord has given, the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

Heaven is nearer us today than ever before, because this loved one has been taken from us and transplanted in Paradise above to bloom for ever and ever. He is not very far removed from us, just across the river of death, and we realize that he can not come back to us, so let us so live that when God calls us we shall meet him in the great beyond.
