Mary L. McColley, 89, of Shelbyville died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Greenwood.

Born March 27, 1919, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Frank and Ethel (Patterson) Carpenter. She married Cyrus McColley on July 7, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1976.

Survivors include her son, Max (wife, Reba) McColley of Cleveland, Wis.; daughter, Barbara (husband, Eric) Hilt of Shelbyville; brother, Bill Carpenter of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters, Lavinna (husband, Harry) Bayless of Fairland and Frankie (husband, Jon) Webster of Manilla; grandchildren, Todd Allen McColley, Traci Lynn McColley, Troy Denton McColley, Terry Aldridge, Eric Aldridge and Brandy (husband, Sean) Craig; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Aldridge, Zach Aldridge, Abigail Aldridge, Jacob Aldridge, Liam Craig and Aidan Craig.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Mrs. McColley lived in Rush County prior to moving to the Shelbyville area, where she lived most of her life.

She had been a factory worker at General Electric, retiring in 1973. She also had been a seamstress at the Garment Factory.

Mrs. McColley was a member of Gowdy Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Waldron Chapter.

She loved her crafts, crocheting and grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with an Eastern Star service at 8 p.m., today at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Farnsley officiating.

Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, in care of Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
