"Harvey" was born the first of five children born to John Floyd and Martha Amanda (Morris) Cummings.
On February 28, 1898, he was united in marriage to Cload Owna Whitebread at Blue Rapids, KS. To this union were born six sons and five daughters. He is preceded in death by one son, Clency, and one daughter, Verna.
In 1920 he left Kansas and settled in Peyton, CO., with his family. His occupation for the next nine years was raising livestock and farming. In 1929, he moved with his family to the old local hotel. Always an admirer of beautiful in nature, he did all he could during his six years as a resident of the village to beautify the yard of the hotel. The family rented rooms to railroaders.
Harvey passed away at the home of his daughter, Marie Breitling, in Colorado Springs. He is survived by his wife, five sons; Galen, Cecil, Ray, Edgar and Delbert; four daughters, Mrs. Eva Roberts, Mrs. Gladys Miller, Mrs. Marie Breitling, and Mrs. Eulavee Taylor; one brother, Edward; 12 grandchildren.
Harvey was originally interred in the Payten, CO., cemetery but moved to Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO., after his wife died.
