Charles Graden Blazer, 71, of 4100 Ranch Road, Johnson City, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.

He was a native of Cocke County and had lived in Johnson City for 42 years. Mr. Blazer was a son of the late Robert and Lora Ottinger Blazer.

Mr. Blazer was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was retired from Sperry where he worked as a supervisor.

Mr. Blazer was a member of Boones Creek United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Blazer.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rena Blazer; two daughters, Brenda Benfield, Jonesborough, and Patricia Hitechew, Johnson City; one brother, Loyd Blazer, Greeneville; one granddaughter, Nickie Hyatt; one grandson, Charles Green; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Blazer will be conducted Thursday, April 8, 2004, at 8:00 p.m. in the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home with the Rev. John Hitechew and Rev. Jane Taylor officiating.

The graveside commital service will be held Friday, April 9, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. in Harneds Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Parrottsville.

For those planning to attend the graveside service, they are asked to meet at the cemetery in Parrottsville by 1:00 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Williams, Orville "Sonny" Davison, Henry Harris, Oren Weeks, Bob Davidson, Bob Scott, Carl "Red" Slagle, and John Glaze.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society of Washington County, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601.
