Gordon W. Brooks, age 81, a longtime resident of Wenatchee, WA and more recently, of Lawton, MI, passed away peacefully Monday, July 21, 2008, at White Oaks Assisted Living, Lawton, MI. Gordon was born August 10, 1926, in Long Prairie, MN to Carson and Nell (Van Blaricom) Brooks. He attended elementary school there and worked the family farm until his marriage to Myrtle Schlinsog on August 22, 1948. Along with his parents, they moved to Washington State, where he had a small apple orchard. He became an x-ray technician and was employed at St. Anthony's Hospital for 25 years, where he was Chief of the x-ray department. Gordon was well-known for his woodworking and craftsmanship and his proudest achievement was the house he built. He and Myrtle were longtime custodians of the Wenatchee SDA Church, where they were members. Surviving are two daughters, Becky (Butch) Moore of Bangor, MI and Cheryl (Mike) McKnight of Kennewick, WA; three grandchildren, Jenni (Ron) Coffen of Niles, MI, Tony (Juli) Carrion of Gaithersburg, MD and Chris (Stephanie) Carrion of Beavercreek, OH; four great-grandchildren, Kelli Claire, Christopher, Eli and Owen; one sister, June (Roger) Dorner of Wenatchee, WA; a niece, Dixie (Darrell) Hunt of Troy, ID; and a nephew, Duke Dorner of Wenatchee, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife. Friends may call at the Wenatchee Seventh-day Adventist Church, Monday, July 28, 2008, from Noon until time of Service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Mark Witas officiating.
