Shirley was the daughter of Thomas Weil Wright and Lillian Blanche Dimmitt Wright. Shirley worked in food service for 20 years at St. Vincent's Hospital. She had also attended Shortridge High School. She was a member of Christ Church Apostolic. She was an avid reader of the Bible and she inspired many with her Christian witness. She was buried at New Crown Cemetery.
Shirley's parents and one brother Thomas Clifford Wright peceeded her in death.
Survivors include daughter, Kimberly Lynn Cheatham (Clyde) Bolden; son, James (Denise) Cheatham, Jr.; sisters, Cynthia (James) Fountain, Linda Howell and Edythe Wright Tanner; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
