Enid Caroline Zurmuehlen Feikert, 93, of Burlington and formerly of Galesburg, Illinois, Davenport, Iowa and Cheyenne, Wyoming died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at her home.
Born February 19, 1914 at rural Oakville, she was the daughter of Charles August and Berta Marie Bell Swanson. On January 12, 1935 she married Floyd August Zurmuehlen in West Burlington. To their marriage one daughter, Carolyn Zurmuehlen, was born. Mr. Zurmuehlen preceded her in death on September 24, 1959. On August 10, 1968 she married Robert Emanuel Feikert in Burlington. He also preceded her in death on July 14, 1981.
Mrs. Feikert was a 1932 graduate of Wapello High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at J.C. Penney, Brown Lynch and Scott as a clerk and retired from the Jefferson Street Hat Shop in 1977 after 17 years of which 10 years she was manager and was an excellent seamstress.
Mrs. Feikert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, E.C. Blackmar Chapter and White Shrine.
Survivors include one son-in-law, George Schneider of Burlington; one step daughter, Roberta "Bobbie" Hillard of Burlington; niece, Karen Gorham of Washington; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one sister, Cheryl Lieuallen of Sunnyvale, California; two nieces; one nephew; and several great nieces and nephews.
Besides both husbands, her parents, one daughter Carolyn Schneider, one grandson, and one brother Marion Swanson also preceded her in death.
