Charles R. Heisler, 78, of Lancaster, PA, passed away at The Glen at Willow Valley on Sunday evening following a long illness. His family was very grateful to be able to spend the last day of his life, at his side. Born in Strasburg, he was the son of the late Charles and Minnie Herr Heisler. Charles was the husband of Joanne Fritz Heisler, together they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on August 2nd.
He owned and operated Charles R. Heisler Inc. in Lancaster, a wholesale coin and stamp supply company, from 1963 until he retired in 1988. Prior to this he worked for Hubley Toy Co. from 1950 until 1963 in management.
Charles served with the United States Navy on the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Saipan. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, he was active on the board of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and served with Junior Achievement in his younger days. A member of the Hamilton and Tucquan Clubs, he was a 32nd degree mason with Lodge #43, F & AM, Zembo Temple, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and the Lancaster County Shrine Club.
His wife, children, grandchildren and great granddaughter were his prizes and he made sure he let them know it. Charles enjoyed working, boating, motorcycle riding, fishing and spending time at is shore house with his family surrounding him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joanne, his daughters, Deborah H. wife of Walter Zollinger and Pamela S. Patterson all of Lancaster; his five grandchildren, Julie Strong of Reading, Adam Kinney of Lancaster, Abby Schultz of New Jersey, Taylor Kinney of California and Trent Kinney of Lancaster, and one great granddaughter, Olivia Schultz. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Heisler.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Life Celebration Memorial Service from Highland Presbyterian Church, 1801 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA on Friday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Ann S. Osborne officiating. A private family interment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
