William L. Brown of Eatontown died last Thursday night at that place at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Cornelia. He was 81 years old and his death was caused by heart disease and grip.
Mr. Brown was born at New Bedford, in this county. He learned the shoemaker's trade and followed his trade at Eatontown and Oceanport. He was also captain of a schooner which ran between New York and Oceanport.
His wife has been dead several years and he leaves three children--Mrs. Cornelia, Mrs. Annie Taber of Long Branch and Mrs Kate riddle of Pleasure Bay.
The funeral was held on Sunday at the Eatontown Methodist church, Rev. J. Dewitt Fay officiating. The body was buried in the Slocum burying ground.
