AURORA, Mo. -- James Albert Henbest, 91, of Aurora died Sept. 9, 2008, at Aurora Nursing Center. He was born June 18, 1917, in Cassville, Mo., to Edward and Dora J. Beck Henbest.
He was a longtime resident of Cassville. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star while stationed in New Guinea. He worked at Roaring River State Park until he retired. He was a Baptist. He married Nancy Ward on Jan. 29, 1966.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Henbest; his son, James Edward Henbest and wife Leah of Verona, Mo.; three stepsons, Raymond D. Jagger and wife Charlene of Kirksville, Mo., William M. Jagger and wife Dana of Cynthiana, Ky., and Ricky Joe Jagger of Ridgley, Mo.; two brothers, Dale Henbest of Farmersville, Texas, and Donald Henbest of Westminster, Texas; his sister, Grace Smith of Galena, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Horner Cemetery in Cassville.
