He was born Ulysses Simpson Waller on November 19, 1890 in the town of Henderson, Henderson County, Kentucky to John Lee Waller and Martha "Mattie" Ferlines. He was one of 5 children; Carrie Cabble, Robert Edward Lee "Thummy" Waller Sr, Theodore Roosevelt "Peanuts" Waller Sr, and Grant Waller. On September 30, 1911, in Mount Vernon (Posey), Indiana, he married Savannah Georgia Pippin and from this union 6 children were born; Frederick Douglas "Fred" Waller, Alda Evelyn "Ben" (Waller) Woolridge, Lales Van Cecil "Les" Waller, Fleta Marie (Waller) Dimmitt, Ulysses Garland "Sparky" Waller, and Alois Reginald "Al" Waller. He also has a son Everett Lee Waller from a previous relationship. Ulysses worked as a foreman on a grain elevator at Home Mills Grain Company in Mount Vernon where he would basically work from sun-up to sun-down six days a week to support his family that he loved dearly. He died at 83 years old. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. My Great-Grandfather was laid to eternal rest at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Mount Vernon (Posey), Indiana.

Ulysses S. Waller, 83, of 214 W. Fourth St. died at 11:25 a.m. Monday. Waller was a member of the Gay Flower Lodge of which he was a Noble Grand. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was overseer of the UIOOF Cemetery. Surviving Waller are five sons, Alois R. and Frederick D., both of Mt. Vernon, Everett of Alliance, Ohio, Sgt. Lales Waller of Ft. Monmouth, N.J., and Ulysses S. Jr. of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Perry Woolridge of Louisville, Ky. and Mrs. Henry Dimmitt of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Waller will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Norvell Funeral Home with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Friends may call at Norvell Funeral Home after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
