Birth: 1804
Ulster County
New York, USA
Death: Jan. 1, 1864
Ontario, Canada

Jeremiah married Abigail Jackson about 1848. He was a widower with six children. He, Abigail and the children settled into a small cabin on the Long Point peninsula on Lake Erie. Jeremiah was a trapper and fisherman. Abigail went on to give him eight more children. On a bitter cold, stormy day in November 1854, while Jeremiah was away on the mainland, Abigail made a valiant rescue of eight sailors from the shipwrecked schooner Conductor. She became famous as "The Heroin of Long Point" and received many awards and honors for her bravery. (Her story can be found on her bio.) With monies she was awarded they purchased a farm near Port Rowan. Jeremiah found it difficult to earn a living farming and he returned to the Long Point marshes to supplement their income with trapping. He froze to death attempting to escape to higher ground when a storm and flood invaded the peninsula. Abigail later married Henry Rohrer.
