Lt. Rotundo lost his life in the Ploesti raid "Operation Tidal Wave" one of the most daring raids of WW2 August 1st 1943. Coming in at tree top level the Pyramiders destroy Romanian oil refineries. Lt. Rotundo was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross for his valor and heroism.

Lt. Lawrence E. Murphy and crew were leading the 3rd wave attacking White IV. Took a direct AA hit in the bomb bay and crashed in a refinery ground. Only two escaped this target-area flaming wreck gunners–Yost and McGrath. 3 crew members never identified no burial records available
