Owen County (Indiana) Democrat, March 18, 1915, p. 3.
Cordelia (Malicoat) Roudebush, daughter of Joel Washington and Rebecca Ann (Crum) Malicoat, was born April 3, 1886, in Clay Township, Owen County. She was married to Chalmer Roudebush, December 18, 1907. After the marriage they moved to Greene County where both labored to establish a home. Two children blessed this home in which love and peace reigned supremely. What is more to be desired in this world than a happy home. But this happiness was not to continue. Cordelia was a patient sufferer, she had never enjoyed good health since childhood. This winter her health began to fail more rapidly and we feared the end was at no great distance, but we were not prepared for the sudden call that came Sunday morning, February 21, and she, whom we dearly loved, fell peaceably into that sleep from which none ever wake. She
united with the Primitive Baptist Church when only about fifteen years of age and honored her profession with an upright life. Our thoughts of her are only of love.
The funeral services were conducted by Elder, J. H. Oliphant of
Crawfordsville, in the New Hope Church near Freedom, after which the body was interred in the Oliphant Cemetery near Pottersville to await the voice of him who shall awaken her and all the heaven born family, fashion their bodies like unto the body of the risen Lord and take them to that better country where sickness, sorrow, pain and death are felt and feared no more.
The deceased leaves a father, mother, husband and two children-Thelma E., age 9 and Wayne W., age 2; three brothers, W. A. and J. W. Malicoat of Linton and Rossie who is at home; and many other relatives and friends whose remembrance of her will ever be sweet. May we all be submissive to the will of Him who makes no mistakes and refrain from tears.
Not for the dead in Christ we weep.
Their suffering now is o'er.
The sea is calm, the tempest past
On that eternal shore
