Cecilia was born on January 22, 1916 to Edward James and Bertha Obenland McGrath. She had two brothers, John Vincent, born January 24, 1914 and Joseph Edward, born April 12, 1922. Cecilia's grandparents were German immigrants, Ernst Gottlieb Obenland and Maria (Mary) Agnes Burkhart, who had married in Danvers, Illinois before moving to California. They settled in Garfield County, Washington in the early 1880's.
Cecilia met a young man, Stephen Angelovic on a blind date. They married in Pomeroy, Garfield Co., Washington on June 23, 1938. Stephen was the first college graduate in his family. His father, Alexander, had been a coal miner who worked for a dollar a day. Alexander and his wife, Katie were Austrian immigrants who had settled in Sweetwater, Wyoming.
Cecilia and Stephen had five children, 4 sons and one daughter. Unfortunately, their daughter, Frances, was stillborn. She is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Seattle, Washington, where her parents are buried.
Stephen and Cecilia's first son, Gary Michael, was born in 1939. Michael went on to become the first priest in the family. Thomas Edward was born in 1943. He is the first doctor in the family. John Patrick, the first teacher in the family, was born in 1946 and Peter Joseph was born in 1950.
Cecilia passed away on December 23, 1968 in Seattle, Washington. Her funeral service was held on December 27 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Seattle. Her son, Father Michael Angleovic offered the Requium Mass. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery, where her daughter Frances was buried in 1940 and where her husband would be buried in 1975.
