"NORTH BILOXI RESIDENT IS FATALLY HURT"

"Jake Richards, 57, native of Jackson county, and resident of the North Biloxi section all of his life, died at 4:20 p.m. yesterday from injuries received when struck by an automobile driven by Cliff Scarborough on the Cedar Lake Road a short way above Five Points at 3:30 p.m. He was the husband of Amelia Seymour Richards. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. George Gilbert and Mrs. Anthony Pons, one son, George Richards, Biloxi, and a brother, Henry Richards, Pascagoula, and numerous other relatives. The funeral will be held this afternoon at the Moore Community House at 4 p.m. with services by Rev. Swope Noblin from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pons, 927 Anglado Alley with interment in Biloxi Cemetery. Mr. Richards was a WPA worker and was injured just when he alighted from a truck and came around the rear when crossing the highway when struck by Mr. Scarborough's automobile. The Bradford Ambulance took him to the hospital. George Mon, chief of the Harrison county road patrol, investigated the accident and charged Scarborough with manslaughter and made $500 bond to appear before the grand jury June 15."

"JAKE RICHARDS BURIED"" The funeral of Jake Richards was held yesterday afternoon from the home of his daughter, Mrs.Anthony Pons, 927 Anglado Alley and services by Rev. Swope Noblin at the Epworth Methodist Church on Davis Street and interment in Biloxi Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Leo Seymour, Nick Guidry, Joe Bellais, Adolph Bellais, Woodrow Steele and Joe Manuel."
