-------

Children of Polly Cook Malone:
James and Polly (Cook) Malone had nine children, but some of their names and information about them are unknown at this time. One descendant, now deceased, said she had heard that some of their children had died shortly after birth and were not named.
The 1830 census of Franklin Co., AL. lists three sons and one
daughter, all under the age of 20 years.
The names of some of the children were taken from the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census records of Franklin Co., AL. The children, except for Blackwell, were probably all born in the same old log house that James built and lived in, on the farm that he owned, near
Frankfort, AL. The names of the children of James and Polly (Cook) Malone were:
1. Blackwell Malone, born ca (about) 1814 in North Carolina.
2. Sarah "Sallie" Michel Malone, born 13 Sept. 1822, died 13 May
1863, married John E. Seal.
3. A son, no further information on him, he may have died young.
4. Joseph Thomas Malone, born ca 1829, died 4 Feb. 1864, married
Mary Jane Sparks. (Could he have died as a result of the Civil War)
5. William Malone, born ca 1830, married Elizabeth (maiden name
unknown, but some say it was Blackburn)
6. A child unknown, born after 1830., may have died young.
7. Nancy C. Malone, born 16 Jan. 1834, died 5 Oct. 1926, married
Riley Sparks.
8. James G. Malone, born ca 1839.
9. Daniel E. Malone, born ca 1842.

After Polly's death on 26 Oct. 1842, James Malone married second to Matilda (James) Betterton, a widow, probably late in 1842 or early in 1843. Matilda (James) Betterton was born 13 July 1823 in Alabama and died 29 Dec. 1898. She is buried next to
James in the Malone cemetery on the farm that he owned.
