Carol I. Warner is the fourth daughter born to Warren Carl Warner and Maud A. Palmer of Aurelius, Ingham, MI. Carol has a rich family heritage, the daughter of a well-respected horse trader in the Mason area at the turn of the 20th century. She's the great-granddaughter of Adam G. Strayer, a friend of Chief Okemos and pioneer settler of Meridian Twp. in the late 1800s, as well as granddaughter of Isaiah Palmer, who worked on the Missouri-Kansas Railroad in the early 1870s. On her father's side, Carol is the granddaughter of Lester Lucius & Dolly Jane (LeFurge) Warner who migrated from the Northeast (Vermont, New York, respectively), and through the LeFurge/Freer family, descended from Hugo Freer, the Patentee of New Paltz (NY), a Huguenot refugee in the 1600s.

Carol's siblings:

1-Ruth Warner (1902-1902)
2-Adah Lavone Warner (1903-1988) m. widower Severin "Sammy" Jean, Jr.; no ch. (although Adah raised Sammy's 4 children)
3-Fern Irene Warner (1910-1981) m. Lawrence J. Jean; 4 ch.

After graduating from Mason High School, Mason, MI, in 1936, Carol worked in Lansing with her brother-in-law Sammy and sister Adah's business known as "Jean's Cafe." It was while working there that she met Kenneth B. Lawson, a minor league baseball player, and they married on 21 Sep 1946, when Carol was 28 years of age. They settled on the Warner farm in Aurelius and had two children:

1-Carl L. Lawson (b. 1949-) m. Donna Jacot
2-Dale R. Lawson (1951-1981) m. 1st Debbie Ackerman, 1 ch.; 2nd Carla Randolph

In 1956, my mother came from Lansing to live with her Aunt Carol and Uncle Kenny and graduated from Mason later that year. They provided a wonderful home until she married Dad in 1959, and Mom remained very close to them the rest of their lives.

I grew up "across the road and down a piece" from (great) Uncle Kenny and Aunt Carol and have countless happy childhood memories of time spent with them on their two farms, every Christmas Eve, and with my cousins Carl and Dale. Aunt Carol was my grandmother's sister but I was close to her and she was one of the funniest, warmest, kindest and most generous women I've ever known. I miss her dearly.
