Elem J. was the son of Elem & Sarah (Cockerell) Blain. He was married to Rachel Stanley on November 15, 1855.
"Elem J. Blane, son of Sarah C. and Elem Blane, was born in Delaware county, May 30, 1837. He departed this life, Jan 28th at 6:15 a.m. aged 90 years, 6 months and 27 days.
In early life he was married to Rachael Stanley. To this union were born two boys.
In Mr. Blane's early life, he moved from Delaware county to Paulding county. Here he lived on a farm until 14 years ago. From that time to this he made his home with Mrs. Delaney, a daughter-in-law, who resides at 338 W. Baldwin Ave.
Mr. Blane believe in God as a loving, kind, just and a merciful Father.
The deceased was a Civil war veteran, he having volunteered to protect the cause he loved so well, and belonged to the 121st regiment O. V. I. Co. H.
He was preceded in death by one brother, two sons, one in infancy and the other, Charles, who died on Dec. 25th, 1893, his father and mother, and his wife, who died 27 years ago.
He leaves to mourn; two sisters, Rhoda Dixon, of this city, and Delilah Christler, of LayPort, Iowa. One daughter-in-law, Mrs. Delaney. One nephew by marriage, Ben Delaney, one granchild, 10 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Crowell Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Jan. 30, Rev. Cameron, of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial at Live Oak cemetery.
