|Death: ||Sep. 3, 2008, Afghanistan|
Corporal, 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based in Shilo, Manitoba. Aged 21, he was from Winnipeg. He was deployed with the Canadian contingent of NATO forces serving in Afghanistan.
He was one of three Canadian soldiers killed and five others injured after an insurgent attack on their light armoured vehicle while on patrol in Zhari district, Kandahar province. Their battle group was due to return home within two weeks.
Cpl Seggie came from a military family; his grandfather, uncle and father had all served. He had been stationed in Shilo for two years and recently promoted from private. He was described as a great communicator and had learned several Pashtu phrases to interact better with the local population. He was very close to his family and friends and looked forward to seeing his nephew on his return home. The proud owner of a 1968 Barracuda, Mike loved to drive and show it off at any opportunity. He is survived by his parents Jim and Shirley, sister Michelle, grandparents, and family and friends.
