Richard was a laborer residing in North Easton, Mass. when he enlisted in Co. H. of the 2nd Massachusetts Infantry. He was killed at the battle of Gettysburg and buried here (name is wrong on stone), but he has a cenotaph with his parents Michael and Rose in Saint Macullin's Churchyard Cemetery, Lusk, County Dublin, Ireland. He was 33 years old when he died.
