Viola Hall Curtis Combs, 95 years of age, of Stotts Lane, departed this life on August 31st, 2008 following a brief illness.

Viola was born in Estill County, Kentucky on July 20th, 1913, daughter of the late George Greenberry and Lummie Bird Branaham Hall. She was a member of the Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Viola was survived by six children, Irene (and Sherman) Willoughby of Garrard County, Kentucky, Carrie Combs Willoughby of Lexington, Kentucky, John M. (and Jane) Combs of Logan County, Kentucky, Loretta Faye (and Robert) Abney and Paul B. Combs, Sr. both of Lexington, Kentucky, and Mary Elizabeth (and Tracie) Reece of Nicholas County, Kentucky; twenty one grandchildren including a special grandson, Paul B. Combs, Jr.; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Eldora Reed; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry M. Combs; one daughter, Eva Jane Combs; her parents, George Greenberry and Lummie Bird Branaham Hall; and several brothers and sisters.

Visitations were held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1st, 2008 at the Betts & West Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 in the Chapel of the Betts & West Funeral Home.

Her grandsons served as her pallbearers.

Burial followed in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
